It is always difficult to determine, without knowing exactly how a kit is "made up," why unsatisfactory results are achieved, however it is most unlikely that the kit itself is at fault.

More likely it is down to your own technique and perhaps not fully understanding what, sometimes can be basic winemaking or beermaking principles.

The best advice that we can give is to make full use of resources that are available. Don't just be content with "opening a can" seek to improve your knowledge and understanding of homebrewing and reap the benefits.
